Our History

The story of Health. Quantified and Improved.

What is HQI all about?

A brief history

In 2015, a few of us started tracking our physical health using phones, watches, and other gadgets and tests. We found all sorts of interesting things out about the state of our health and wellbeing.

Everyone found something useful and potentially impactful to improve on.

But over time, we realized that this increased understanding often didn't result in a whole lot of change.

So we started to ask ourselves: Why is that?

Why do we know what we should do for ourselves, for our better health, but so often don't actually do it? Are we not piloting the ship?

To understand this, we started looking at our goals, motivations, habits, and emotions in much more detail, trying to understand our minds and motivations as well as our physical bodies.

Looking for ways to better align what we 'know we should do' with 'what we end up actually doing'.

And we found some really useful tools that made a whole lot of positive difference to our daily actions and ultimately to our physical and emotional wellbeing and ability to achieve our goals.

Our collective efforts to date have taken thousands of hours of research and practice. We have found that the challenges of staying up to date and working out what works and what doesn't are huge and growing every day as more and more people, institutions, and companies become focused on health and wellbeing.

But what we have works, at least some of the time, and with so many new technologies, insights, and tools available, we believe we will soon be able to make a system that works more profoundly, more of the time, and for more people.

So we thought: How can we refine and scale this? How can we share what we have learned? How can we engage with more people to help to understand what needs to be built and to help us to build it?

Where we are today

We have built a framework of insights and actionable possibilities.

Some things which, if given a little time and attention, can make a significant difference to both our short and long-term prospects to live a healthy life on purpose.

And now we are looking to engage more people with our framework, to help build, strengthen, and road test it.
